Einhell CP-EP 18/125 Li BL-Solo review

A cordless brushless polisher with an 8 mm (0.31 in) orbit — the fine, forgiving throw — on a battery platform shared across a large tool range.

The last word Cordless and forgiving. Add the battery cost before comparing it with the corded machine.

What lands on the bench

A brushless 18 V cordless dual action polisher with an 8 mm (0.31 in) orbit and a 125 mm (4.92 in) plate, supplied bare.

Where cordless genuinely helps

Around a car. A polishing cable finds every corner and drags across panels you have just finished; not having one is worth more than it sounds.

The orbit choice

Eight millimeters is the fine end. It corrects more slowly and it is far harder to make a mistake with — which is the right trade for a first machine, and the wrong one for a full respray correction.

What is not in the box

The battery. On a bare tool that is the real purchase, and it belongs in the price comparison.

What it does, and what it misses

Strengths

  • Cordless: no cable to drag across a wet panel, and no socket needed
  • An 8 mm (0.31 in) orbit is the most forgiving throw for a beginner
  • Brushless, so a modest battery does useful work

Compromises

  • Supplied without a battery, so the price is not the price
  • 8 mm (0.31 in) corrects more slowly than a 15 mm (0.59 in) machine on large panels
  • Runtime on a polishing job is measured in a battery or two

The questions that reach us

Is 8 mm (0.31 in) too small for a whole car?

It is slower rather than incapable. On a full correction it means more passes; on spot repairs and curved panels it is easier to control and less likely to catch an edge.

How long does a battery last?

Long enough for a panel or two rather than a car, on a typical 4 Ah pack. Anyone correcting a whole vehicle will want a second battery or a corded machine.

Our score

8.4/ 10

Cordless and forgiving. Add the battery cost before comparing it with the corded machine.
