The size question first

A 150 mm (5.91 in) pad needs a 150 mm (5.91 in) backing plate. Fitting a large pad to a small plate leaves an unsupported edge that folds and burns — check the plate before the pads.

What the honeycomb changes

Less sling. Compound sits in the recesses rather than on a flat face, so more of it reaches the paint and less of it decorates the wing next door.

What is not published

Density grading. Without it, the sequence of cut and finish has to be worked out from the foam by hand — worth knowing when comparing with a graded set.

Not without a 150 mm (5.91 in) backing plate, and the pad should be slightly larger than the plate rather than the other way round. Check the plate diameter before ordering pads.

What does a honeycomb face do?

It holds compound in the recesses so more of it stays at the working face instead of being thrown off in the first second of a pass. It is a real if modest advantage.
