What lands on the bench

Five 125 mm (4.92 in) foam pads with named densities: T120 for heavy cutting, T80 for high removal, T60 for moderate work, and finer grades for finishing.

Why naming the density is the feature

Every pad set is color-coded and no two brands agree. A set that states what each foam is for lets you build a sequence — cut, polish, finish — instead of guessing from a color chart.

How to use the sequence

Least aggressive first, on a test area. Step up only when a combination fails to correct. That single habit is what keeps clear coat on the car.

What to buy alongside

A second pad of whichever grade you use most. Correction stops when the pad saturates, and a spare is what keeps the finish consistent.

The questions that reach us

Which pad do I start with?

The least aggressive that works. Try the finest grade with a polish on a test area first; step up only if it does not correct. Starting with the cutting pad removes clear coat you did not need to spend.

Are T120, T80 and T60 standard codes?

They are this maker’s. There is no cross-brand standard for foam density, which is why a set with published grades and stated purposes is worth more than a set of colored discs.
