A conductance reading is an estimate, not a load test · review
KONNWEI KW218 review
The tester that names the chemistries it supports and reports internal resistance alongside voltage — the two things that separate a diagnosis from a light.
The last word The one to buy if you want to see the working, not just the answer.
What lands on the bench
A color-screen tester with alloy clamps that reads a battery in or out of the car, and reports the parameters behind its verdict rather than only the verdict.
Why the chemistry list matters
AGM and flooded batteries behave differently under test, and a tool that does not distinguish them applies the wrong reference. KONNWEI names conventional flooded and AGM flat plate among the types it supports, which is a specification rather than a claim.
The figure worth recording
Internal resistance. It is the quantity a conductance tester actually measures, and its trend over time is the earliest warning a battery gives.
Where it sits
Above the LED checkers, below the printing testers used in workshops. For a home garage that is the useful middle.

What it does, and what it misses
Strengths
Names the chemistries rather than claiming to test "all batteries"
Reports internal resistance, which is the figure a conductance test actually measures
Works on a flat battery, which several testers refuse to do
Compromises
6 and 12 V only — no 24 V
No printer or app export
Alloy clamps are better than the usual plastic, and still not workshop clamps

The questions that reach us
What does internal resistance tell me?
It rises as a battery ages and as plates sulfate, and it is what the tester converts into a state of health estimate. Watching it over a couple of years on the same battery is more informative than any single reading.
Can it test a battery that will not start the car?
The maker states it tests batteries in or out of the vehicle, including empty ones. That is the case where cheaper testers simply refuse to display.

Who should pick this one, among garage tools
Someone who wants the underlying numbers rather than a pass or fail.

Amazon reports what buyers took in the month before this page was last checked: at least 100.
The figure is a floor, rounded by Amazon, and read through Keepa — it says what buyers picked, not what a maker claims.

12 V starter batteries · LED indicators, no display · color-coded clamps · no settings to enter
The simplest tester on this shelf: colored LEDs rather than a screen, no figures to enter, and a verdict a driver can read without knowing what CCA means.
Best for: A driver who wants a yes-or-no answer before calling anyone.
