What do cast clamps change?

They hold their shape and their spring. Pressed sheet clamps spread over a few years until they will not grip a terminal, which is how most old jump leads actually die.

Is DIN compliance meaningful here?

It means the leads were built to a defined specification for cross-section and construction rather than to a price. On a product sold on unregulated amp claims, that is worth something.
