Thirty-six pieces, itemized one by one
CKAuto 36-piece universal kit
A 36-piece kit whose contents are listed item by item, with twenty four-inch plugs and zinc alloy T-handles.
What you are getting
36 pieces, itemized: T-handle insertion tool ×1, insertion tool replacement ×1, T-handle probe spiral ×1, probe spiral replacement ×1, 4-inch repair plugs ×20, valve stem caps ×4, 4-way valve stem tool ×1, jar of lubricant ×1, L hex key ×1, valve cores ×4, knife ×1, bag ×1. T-handles in zinc alloy. Tubeless tires only. $19.99.
It is the only kit here that counts out its own piece count
Twelve lines, every one with a quantity. Add them: 1+1+1+1+20+4+1+1+1+4+1+1 = 36.
That sounds like bookkeeping and it is the single most useful thing on this shelf, because the need card here ranks kits on Pieces, highest first and a “piece” is not a unit of anything.
| Kit | Pieces | Plugs, as stated |
|---|
| TOURGUARD 17 pcs | 17 | 5 |
| TOURGUARD 31 pcs | 31 | — |
| Wykodra | 36 | — |
| This kit | 36 | 20 |
| AUTOWN | 68 | — |
| Boulder Tools | — | 30 |
The AUTOWN kit at the same price headlines 68 pieces and never says how many are plugs. This kit and the Wykodra both headline 36; one of them tells you that 20 of the 36 are the consumable and 8 are valve caps and cores.
So on the figure the shelf actually ranks by, the only honest comparison available is between the two kits that publish their plug count — this one at 20 and Boulder Tools at 30.
Four-inch plugs, which is the only plug dimension on this shelf
“4” Repair Plugs x 20.”
Not one other kit in this survey publishes a plug length, a plug diameter or a reamer diameter — and the shelf’s introduction makes the reamer the decisive tool: “a proper spiral reamer and a forked insertion needle make the difference between a repair and a bigger hole.”
Four inches is the standard rope length, long enough to double over in the needle and still leave tails to trim. It is a real figure, published, on a shelf where the geometry is otherwise absent.
“Our T-handle Tools are made of the high strength rustless zinc alloy, can easily pierce the plugs and quickly finished the repair work.”
Read that against the others:
| Kit | Stated tool metal |
|---|
| TOURGUARD 17 pcs | stainless steel |
| Boulder Tools | steel, “professional-grade” |
| AUTOWN · TOURGUARD 31 pcs | “refined high-quality steel” |
| Wykodra | “thick refined steel” |
| This kit | zinc alloy |
Zinc alloy is cast, not forged, and a reamer is pushed through a steel-belted tread by hand with body weight behind it. “Rustless” is true of zinc and is not the property under load. On the tire pressure gauges shelf the same material appears on the chuck face of the LUMITECO gauge for the same reason — it is cheap to cast to shape.
Both replacement tools in the box are the answer to that: an insertion tool and a probe spiral spare, which no other kit supplies.
Tubeless only, stated plainly
“please note this is not for tube tires.”
That sentence is in only one listing on this shelf, and it is the one that matters on a kit sold for “Motorcycles, Trucks, RVs, SUV, Jeep, Tractor, Trailer, Mower”. A tractor rear tire, a mower tire and an older motorcycle wheel are often tubed, and a plug through the tread of a tubed tire does nothing at all except make a second hole in the tube.
Every plug kit here is a tubeless kit. One of them says so, and the published NIGRIN sealant states the same limit for itself — one tubeless tire, holes to 3 mm (0.12 in).
And the lubricant is a jar rather than a tube
“Jar of Lubricant x 1.” The lubricant is what lets the reamer and then the plug through the belt without tearing it.
It is also the part the shelf’s second need card is about — “plug cement dries out in a hot boot. The stated expiry date decides whether the kit works on the day” — and a jar that is opened once is open from then on. No kit on this shelf publishes an expiry date, and a jar is harder to keep than a sealed tube.
What is not published
No weight and no case dimensions. No reamer diameter. No expiry date. No pressure gauge, which only Boulder Tools supplies and which this site’s own guidance says the repair needs: “re-inflated… to the specified pressure, then checked cold the next day”. No plug cure state, where Boulder Tools says self-vulcanizing and Wykodra says vulcanized.
At $19.99 it is the same price as the 68-piece AUTOWN kit, and it is the one that tells you what the pieces are.
