ANXTECH 515 pieces, 4-drawer alloy case review

The only drawer case here, filled with 515 pieces and publishing no load rating for any of them.

The last word The filled set this shelf warns about, in the form it warns about. The case is what stays, and almost nothing about the case is published.

What you are getting

A 515-piece tool set — wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, a socket set, tape measure, hammer, utility knife, a tester and garden tools — in a 4-drawer aluminum rolling case with top compartments, a telescopic handle and wheels. Tools in carbon steel, chrome plated; a reinforced aluminum frame. $109.99.

It is the filled set this shelf warns about, in the exact form it warns about

The introduction: “Filled sets deserve a second look: the tools included are usually the cheapest part of the package, and the cabinet is the part that stays.”

And the buying advice on this site’s socket sets shelf, which is the other half of the same argument: “count the sockets you will actually use, not the pieces on the box. A 216-piece set is often a 40-piece set plus screwdriver bits, and the bits are the part you already own.”

Five hundred and fifteen pieces, with no breakdown. The bullet lists categories — “wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, socket set, tape measure, hammer, utility knife, tester, and garden tools” — and no quantity for any of them.

Garden tools inside a 515-piece count is the detail that tells you what kind of count it is. So does “tester”, which on a household set is usually a neon screwdriver rather than anything this site’s circuit testers shelf would recognize.

What a buyer can establish from the listing: 515 is the total, and the number of sockets is unknown.

And the case is the part that stays, which is the part least described

The introduction’s first criterion is the one missing: “Ball-bearing slides open fully under load and keep doing it; friction slides bind as soon as a drawer holds a socket set. The stated load per drawer is the figure that tells you which kind you are buying.”

The published Arebos and Masko cabinets on this shelf both state ball-bearing slides; the published Scheppach cabinet, which is also a filled set, states none — and its page notes that as the gap that matters most. This listing is in the same position, on a case that also has to be dragged on a telescopic handle.

A four-drawer aluminum case with a pull handle is a flight-case layout rather than a workshop cabinet: it travels, and it holds less than the seven-drawer steel cabinets on this shelf. That is a real use — a mobile set for a van or a second property — and it is not the same product as a roller cabinet.

Carbon steel, chrome plated, which is the softer end of the shelf

“Heavy-duty tool set crafted from carbon steel and chrome-plated for corrosion resistance; reinforced aluminum frame.”

Plain carbon steel is what household tool sets are made of. On this site’s socket sets shelf the comparison is explicit: three sets there name chrome vanadium and the compromise card warns that “a cheap set with a very large number of pieces contains soft sockets that spread.”

Five hundred and fifteen pieces of carbon steel at $109.99 is about 21 cents a piece, including the case. That arithmetic is the listing’s real argument, and it is a fair one for furniture assembly, garden work and household repair. It is not an argument for undoing a seized suspension bolt.

There is no load rating anywhere, on the one item here with drawers

Four of the five items added to this shelf publish a capacity: the VEVOR cart 550 lb split by tier, the WoopJeem dolly 220–331 lb, the DESEQPT cart 297 lb, the Goplus tray 55 lb.

This one publishes none — and it is the only one of the five with drawers, which is where the figure matters most. A drawer holding a socket set is the test the introduction describes, and the three published cabinets on this shelf fail the same way.

So on this shelf the pattern is now clear: the open carts publish capacities and the drawer cabinets do not, this case included.

What is not published

No slide type. No load per drawer or in total. No lock, which the introduction calls the difference between a trolley and a bench. No case dimensions or weight — the shipping record gives 1,346 × 940 × 521 mm for the carton, which is a pallet-sized package and not the case. No wheel count or size. No breakdown of the 515 pieces, and no socket count. No worktop. No warranty term.

At $109.99 it is the only drawer case on this shelf, and the tools are the part of it that is described.

What it does, and what it misses

Strengths

  • The only drawer case on this shelf, with a telescopic handle for travel
  • About 21 cents a piece including the case
  • A broad household and garden spread in one purchase
  • An aluminum frame, which is lighter to drag than a steel cabinet

Compromises

  • No slide type, which this shelf calls the first thing to judge
  • No load rating anywhere, on the one item here with drawers
  • 515 pieces with no breakdown, and garden tools inside the count
  • Carbon steel, the softer end of what this site’s socket sets shelf compares

The questions that reach us

Is 515 pieces a useful number?

Not on its own, and this shelf says why: "filled sets deserve a second look — the tools included are usually the cheapest part of the package." The bullet lists categories with no quantities, and garden tools are counted in the 515. The arithmetic that does work is about 21 cents a piece including the case, which is a fair price for household and furniture work and not for a seized suspension bolt.

What kind of drawer slides does it have?

Not published, and it is the first thing this shelf judges: "ball-bearing slides open fully under load and keep doing it; friction slides bind as soon as a drawer holds a socket set." The published Arebos and Masko cabinets both state ball-bearing; the published Scheppach set, also a filled one, states none. There is also no load per drawer, on the one item added to this shelf that has drawers.

Is it a tool trolley?

It is a rolling case rather than a roller cabinet — four drawers, an aluminum frame and a telescopic handle, which is a flight-case layout built to travel. It holds less than the seven-drawer steel cabinets published on this shelf and it goes in a van, which the cabinets do not. Different product, same shelf.
