DURATECH 500 ml extraction syringe review

A 500 ml syringe with a transparent barrel and a printed scale — so you can see how much came out, which matters when refilling to a figure.

The last word The one with a scale. If a quantity matters, this is the syringe.

What lands on the bench

A 500 ml transparent extraction syringe with a printed volume scale and double seals, stated for brake, engine, gearbox and differential fluids.

What the scale is for

Matching. Several jobs specify a quantity rather than a level — a differential top-up, a partial gearbox change, a measured brake fluid removal. Seeing what came out is how you know what to put back.

The one caution

Keep it for one fluid. Cross-contamination between brake fluid and oil is the sort of mistake that is invisible until it matters.

Where it stops

Five hundred milliliters and a hand lever. An engine oil change needs a tank and a vacuum, and both are elsewhere in this hub.

Availability

What it does, and what it misses

Strengths

  • A transparent barrel with a scale, so extracted volume can be measured rather than estimated
  • 500 ml is twice the capacity of the syringe below it
  • The maker names the fluids it is designed for, including brake fluid

Compromises

  • Still a manual syringe, so an engine oil change is out of reach
  • A transparent body is easier to read and easier to crack
  • Volume marks fade with brake fluid over time

The questions that reach us

Why does a scale matter?

Because many top-ups are specified as a quantity rather than a level. Removing 300 ml and replacing 300 ml is a different job from guessing, and a scale is the only way to do the first one.

Can I use one syringe for brake fluid and oil?

Better not to. Brake fluid contaminated with oil is a brake system problem, and a syringe is never perfectly clean. Two syringes cost less than a brake fluid flush.

Amazon reports what buyers took in the month before this page was last checked: at least 2,000.

The figure is a floor, rounded by Amazon, and read through Keepa — it says what buyers picked, not what a maker claims.
