Tall, compact, and only as stable as its base · review
VEVOR 12 t bottle jack review
Twelve metric tons at twenty dollars: a heavy-duty bottle jack whose published lift range makes it usable on pick-ups and light trucks rather than cars.
The last word Bought for height and capacity, not for a car. Read the 205 mm (8.07 in) before the 12 t.
What lands on the bench
A 12 t hydraulic bottle jack with a stated lift range of 205 to 400 mm (8.07 to 15.7 in) and a two-piece handle.
Read the heights first
205 mm closed is the specification that decides everything. Most cars will not accept it under their jacking points; a pick-up, a van or a trailer will. The tonnage is almost irrelevant by comparison.
Where the rating is genuinely used
Machinery, agricultural equipment and structural lifting, where the load is real and the height is available. For those jobs a 12 t jack at this price is remarkable value.
The base, again
Small, and loaded to twelve metric tons it is very small indeed. A steel plate or a hardwood board underneath is part of using it.

What it does, and what it misses
Strengths
A published lift range, which most bottle jacks omit
Twelve metric tons is far beyond what a car needs, which means it works well within itself
Two-piece handle stores in less space
Compromises
205 mm (8.07 in) closed is too tall for most cars — this is a jack for high vehicles
A very high rating on a small base concentrates enormous load on a small footprint
No certification body named

The questions that reach us
Is a 12 t jack overkill for a car?
It is not the tonnage that makes it unsuitable, it is the 205 mm (8.07 in) closed height: most cars do not have that much clearance at their jacking points. Buy for the height first.
Does a higher rating mean more stability?
No. Stability comes from base area and from the ground underneath. A high rating on a small base is exactly the combination that needs a spreader board.
